BRITISH RED CROSS
EVOLVING EDUCATION
The British Red Cross helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. A large part of the Red Cross’ operations in the UK are focused around education, specifically first aid training for individuals and workplaces, resources for teachers and schools and providing education for children and young people on a variety of subjects. Our brief was to provide a recommendation for a new digital framework and strategy that:
Meets the needs of the learner
Aligns with the corporate strategy
Allows the ability to engage, interact and teach
Allow the ability to generate income
We undertook a massive research project to immerse ourselves in every aspect of the business, including several workshops, multiple stakeholder interviews and questionnaires, reviewed over 20 research reports and undertook first aid courses as learners. This allowed us to identify four distinct groups of users with different needs. Additionally a a review of the landscape and challenges identified a lot of good, including an excellent standard of training and audience knowledge but also identified key challenge areas that would need addressing to ensure a successful and future proof digital framework.
Completed in mid 2016, our final deliverable contained a clear vision for a new reality within 12-18 months and a roadmap of recommendations to achieve this transformation, ranging from quick wins and interim opportunities, to broader organisational shifts. These recommendations, reimagine the digital offering of the British Red Cross education division and if implemented will provide a framework with which to efficiently and effectively grow and evolve the business sustainably going forward.
